Anna Birkas founded Village Ecosystems to promote the sustainable industries of Mendocino County, with a special focus on water and ecology. Anna is a General Building Contractor eith a B.S. in Ecology and a M.S. in Hydrology. She blends planning, building and science to offer expert design and implementation services for sustainable rural and urban developments of all sizes.

I am also Co-Director of Sustain Local Mendocino, along with Architect Joe Ødegård. We created this site to unite & market the sustainable industries of Mendocino County.
Village Ecosystems offers design and construction services for stormwater, greywater & rainwater. By keeping water onsite you can replenish groundwater, reduce contamination of streams and rivers, store water for use, reduce risks of fire and flooding, and create an oasis of beauty.
